If the Court is not 9-0 against absolute immunity, either the Court needs to be rebooted or the Constitution needs to be rewritten. Even one justice who favors absolute immunity is crazy and should not be tolerated.

We should honestly do both of those things regardless of the ruling.

Staining at knits to swallow a whale. A moral center should be the foundation of all law.

I don't think the current court cares what is actually in the Constitution. A new slate of justices sound great. But who would nominate and confirm them? Because the people who would do that also are horrible and need replaced.

'The Court concludes that the President can assassinate their political enemies with impunity .. except for Supreme Court justices.'

It’s also just clearly partisan. If Obama and Clinton had teamed up to block Trump from taking office, I doubt Alito would have been so chill about absolute immunity.

Can Obama just whack the idiot?

I am not aware of any process of “rebooting.” Given how split the country is, there is zero percent chance of the relevant constitutional amendment happening. So, we’ll need to figure out what to do within the system we have. Re-electing Biden should be our first priority.

The president gets to rendition that justice and they can’t get mad. Who says no

So...since Trump isn't the one in power...does the one in power get to test the ruling if it is, indeed, that the president is king and can just...I don't now...send certain justices on permanent holidays...

The "question" wasn't phrased that way though, so it is extremely likely to be a split decision of some kind. “whether and if so to what extent does a former president enjoy Presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office.”
