Hurricane Milton is not "the storm of the century". It is just the beginning. Unless we stop pouring greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, such devastating events will become commonplace - and ever more horrific.

The saddest part is that carbon dioxide takes 50 years to disappear from the atmosphere. So even if we stopped RIGHT NOW this century is already screwed. We're acting for our grandchildren at best.

Too late. Even if we were to drastically reduce our carbon footprint we've already passed the "tipping point". It would take years of carbon reduction to make a reasonable impact.
