Essential to the Republican premise is "We must exploit someone in pursuit of our goals". The more diversity they allow within their ranks, the more they risk their members pushing to eliminate that exploitation.

There are MANY dimensions to this, but to dumb it down for a sec to make what should be an obvious point -- In a country with >200 years of slavery, followed by almost 100 of segregation and then well under a century of nominal equality, and that was established in significant part on genocide...
