Today Alice took me and one of her hiking buddies to climb part of Akita-Komagatake before we went to see Lake Tazawako both in Akita. The hike was fun, and it was really nice to get into the Japanese countryside for the first time. #Japantravel
Today I helped my friend Alice with a lecture she was doing on tourism in Iwate, and then she took me to a really nice teppanyaki restaurant for lunch. Taking a break to rest my feet, then we're meeting up again later. #japantravel
Today I arrived in Morioka, but since the weather has been a bit rubbish I've not done a lot. I've visited the Morioka History and Culture museum and had one of Iwate's three great noodles, jajamen. #JapanTravel
You never realise how fast the shinkansen goes when you're on one, but I'm sitting at Koriyama station and one just passed through without stopping, and it was fast enough you almost felt it.
Another travel day today. Starting with a local train to Koriyama, and then the shinkansen to Morioka. I've had a lovely time in Aizu-Wakamatsu #japantravel

Today's news is that Ryokan food is still amazing. That beef was easily the best I've ever had. No idea how I'm going to go back to normal food tomorrow. #japantravel
After that I went to Mt Iimoriyama Sazaedo and the graves of the Byakkotai, which was a really lovely area, questionable foreign tributes aside #japantravel
