If you contact no opposing pieces with your shot, the piece you shot leaves the board as a point for *them.* Pieces of yours that *your shot* knocks off any neutral side of the board are also points for your opponent. If you knock a piece of yours off *your* side of the board, not only is it a point

for your opponent but they reclaim a piece of theirs from your score pile and immediately take one shot with it from any vacant dark square on the board. This game is probably bad but so is checkers and it's done p well for itself
