We don't do anything very fancy! It's just your basic "explain the goal, explain who we're talking to, run through the script, discuss how to mark the responses" kind of thing.

If people are canvassing-curious, now would be a good time to try it. You don't have to live in a swing state: find out if there's a competitive congressional race near you, and you can also volunteer for that.

I'm a canvass trainer, and today was the day when we switched to the GOTV script. That means that we're only talking to supporters, and we're helping them figure out how and when to vote (preferably early.) Even people intimidated by canvassing tend to find it pretty easy!

I'm training canvassers today and every weekend day until the election. People should come canvass! Next week we switch to the Get Out The Vote script, and we should only be talking to supporters, so it's super easy canvassing.

My controversial educational opinion is that if extra time gives students an unfair advantage, that's probably a problem with the test. Assessments should measure whether people have learned the material, not how well they perform under time pressure.
