We’ve had some cold & windy Fall days, but there are still some migrants hanging around! The last to leave are usually the juncos. They are often scratching in the fallen leaves, but this dark-eyed junco decided to perch for a moment among the red leaves of our apple tree!

The juncoes have just come back to my yard in Vancouver and I am ecstatic to welcome them home! They are brave, beautiful, and wonderful birds to watch.

constantly astonished by the quality of serious photography, the amount of detail you were able to capture is incredible; all the way down to the individual barbs on the feathers, where the aberration makes it seem as though the quality of the image may be higher than this monitor can render.

The color combination here is A+! Juncos are one of very few birds we have here that do not live here in the summer but do in the winter. My favorite winter buddies.
