on monday, i learned of Andrew Chan Chui's death in mt eden prison. since then, PAPA's been in touch with his family. we found out he was mentally ill and vulnerable, and corrections double bunked him anyway. join PAPA and his whānau outside the prison on sat night to mourn and call for change.

Something I constantly think about is how many artists and makers society isn't getting because housing is too fucking expensive. You can fit a small desk in a bedroom, but you can't easily store, mix, and rinse paint and keep drying racks around unless you have an utterly ascetic existence.
Artists NEED down time. You need time to fuck around and do nothing. Let the brain get bored so it can start coming up with new ideas. The is coincidentally why ideas tend to spring up in the shower or at bed time, when you have nothing else to occupy your mind.
The current NZ government is a coalition of assholes, cookers, and Winston Peters (who is both an asshole and a cooker, so you can see that his party is a natural partner in this deal) and they're literally going to let citizens die preventable deaths in order to give tax cuts to landlords.
