Bill Rawlings, born in Andover in 1896. Served in France in WW1; signed for Southampton at end of war. 198 goals in 377 games for the Saints 1919 - 1928. Two England caps in 1922. Moved to Man Utd in 1928, later ran the Glebe Hotel in Southampton. Died in Chandler’s Ford in 1972.
