Yeah let's hobble one of the last industries the UK has to enable the obvious scam of LLM, a tech bubble that has already burst. "Labour".
NEW: The UK government is set to consult on a scheme that would allow AI companies to scrape content from publishers and artists unless they “opt out”, in a move that will rile the creative industry. W/ @DanielThomasLDN www.ft.com/content/26bc...
Decision follows months of lobbying from tech sector and creative industries
I genuinely don't understand the vulture capitalist push for "AI" beyond the false promise of replacing labor.
This article mentions an LLM that had 45% of it's content taken from websites in violation of the longstanding Robots Exclusion Protocol (familiarly, robots.txt). We shouldn't have trusted AI firms with our current opt-out method… and now they want a new one? www.nytimes.com/2024/07/19/t...
New research from the Data Provenance Initiative has found a dramatic drop in content made available to the collections used to build artificial intelligence.
Man, where are the Napster lawsuits for this shit?
This makes me so unbelievably angry. I didn't think I could hate Kieth's Labour more but every day they prove me wrong
It's most depressing that they're bought so easily, and on such moronic terms. Just venal rubes down to their bones.
Has been the defacto position of successive governments anyway really. AI companies steal everything, no one lifts a finger against them. That they're even bothering to buy retrospective permission from politicians shows how desperate they're getting for data.
So determined to chase down washed-out scams, can't wait for them to start trying to convert the Pound into Bored Keir NFTs
Evil and stupid
Ah yes the party for Exploiting Labour
On my way to the National Art Gallery to take paintings off the wall and scan them. They haven't opted out yet so it's not illegal.
