Related, the Magic community needs to stop using and relying on X/Twitter so heavily.
mhm! as a big horror nerd, between many innistrad sets, phyrexia stuff, duskmourn, I've been thinking of building a horror Cube
that thread is poetry in motion
if anything, this is just motivating me to finally build a Cube.
yup, same here, my LGS generally doesn't even stock singles outside of the first few weeks after release of a new set. So I generally just buy other goods from them (and the profit margins on MTG product are so slim anyways, they are getting more of my money when I buy other stuff anyways)
I still buy accessories from my LGS, go to the occasional prerelease, support content creators, buy non-Hasbro goods from my LGS. But generally speaking, put as little money into the game as I can, never buy sealed product, etc.
I just get "totally distinguishable" proxies from suppliers for $3. I still play the game, but my form of protest has been to give as little money to Wizards as possible.
yup, it's pretty fuckin awful. even as a player, I can't help after all this nonsense but shrug my shoulders and say "however bad EDH/the game becomes, the community ultimately deserves" people uncritically consume, buy, spend, and then harass or explode when consumption is threatened
