Their hatred of Ireland goes back further, they still hate the Irish for the Brighton bombing and have never been happy about the peace accord as it robbed (from their viewpoint) them of a chance to get revenge.
Whatever the circumstances, Northern Ireland was going to be the final frontier of the Conservatives' eternal search for answers on their Europe Question on the one hand & their Irish Question on the other. No question to me that British rule in Ireland is slipping out of their grasp now!
