It’s Tom Baker’s birthday. When I worked in a bookshop, he had a Soho launch party in a bar, for loads of booksellers, shift some memoirs, build goodwill. All these Gen X retail schlubs went along to meet actual Doctor Who. He was there, two pints in hand, in full effect. Didn’t disappoint. >>
Wonderful story! Thanks for posting that!🍻
THE doctor, as far as I'm concerned. Love him immensely.
I’m pretty certain my dad has some old Tom Baker Dr Who scripts in the attic (he worked on the show in the late 70s). Thought extremely highly of Tom Baker. A lovely man much appreciated by his crew.
When I was at university at Chelsea college , he used to drink in the “Man in the moon” pub on the kings road .
One of the best Doctors also brilliant in Blackadder.
In the Soho Coach & Horses he was once - apocryphally - told to 'slow down a bit' by Jeffery Bernard. There can be no higher accolade.
Best Dr. Who, ever
Tom Baker was my favorite Doctor Who. Mom's favorite too! There was a PBS station in Maryland that each Saturday night an episode would be played complete. My lone excuse to stay up until 2-3am. I must have been 8 or 9 but it was a nice bonding event with me and mom.
Just got done rewatching his stint as Dr. Who. Always a fun watch, at least for me.
