With his pioneering work in Primatology, Ethology, and beyond, Frans de Waal had a large influence on how Scientists think about the evolution and expression of empathy. His writing has influenced my thinking and work. R.I.P. to Dr. de Waal.

Sad new: Frans de Waal has passed away. I've read most of his work. Engaging, thoughtful. I've long argued he understood psychology, as a primatologist, better than many/most psychologists. news.emory.edu/features/202...

Here are the comparison effect sizes for each lab, first comparing high-choice versus low-choice, then comparing counter-attitudinal to neutral essays. At the bottom is the average effect size, d = -0.03 and d = 0.26, respectively.

My lab recently completed a multi-study project attempting to replicate a widely-cited social media use time-limit intervention. Read on to find out how every study failed to replicate any well-being improvements, notably because participants struggled to achieve dramatic time reductions:

Grading papers and I have 3 tips I think may help some University students. 1) Use paragraph breaks. New idea = new par. If in doubt space it out. 2) Keep the source in the citation. Replace "A study shows X (cite)" with "X (cite)". 3) Use simple words when you can. Good luck, you got this! 📝
