Republicans have a post-pandemic plan for the scientific establishment

Still angry about the Covid response, GOP lawmakers want to overhaul the National Institutes of Health if they win in November.

Wish more people understood how much all these changes will hurt EVERYONE. The way our media currently covers things it makes it easy for GOP supporters to feel like "they" will be ok its just "others" that will be affected when that isn't how this works.

This article would be a *whole lot better* if it made it clear that all of this is based on the same conspiratorial nonsense that seems to drive the GOP these days. Way, way, too much both-sidesism.

There was a lot of stupid to wade through in that piece, but the silver lining, for me, was the desire to give basic sciences more support.
