It reminds me of when the government where I grew up in Canada closed a bunch of rural libraries during a budget shortfall and justified it by saying literacy rates were low enough in those small towns that no one needed libraries anyway.
I’m going to safely guess that the police department “oops our cops murdered an innocent person” fund more than enough to keep the libraries open seven days a week.
