I honestly think this is part of the same movement as generative "A.I." Replace human artists with generic bullshit machines stripped of human agency and opinion in service of authoritarianism. www.nytimes.com/2024/06/21/a...
Gov. Ron DeSantis gave no explanation for zeroing out the $32 million in grants that were approved by state lawmakers.
War criminal governor
Never attribute to malice what can more easily be explained by stupidity. While baffling I think this is more likely a punishment for some instance of public grant money being used for queer/anti-religious/"woke" works. Basically a redux of cutting the NEA because of "Piss Christ" and Maplethorpe.
I think Republicans are just mean little sadists, deriving joy from imagining the pain they might be able to inflict on others.
Arts grants are such a gimme for the economy. That money isn’t getting hoarded, it’s going straight to shoestring nonprofits and low-income freelancers who pour the cash right back into local coffers. Not to mention drawing tourists from out of state
DeSantis is, unfortunately, my governor. He's not that sophisticated. Arts are associated with liberal types and he just wants to be seen hurting liberals by his voter base.
i think if we replaced desantis with chatGPT people would notice because it would seem more human
A bag of diarrhea has more culture than Desantis, and it shows.
Look at his yearbook picture from HS. Once a douchebag jock, always a douchebag jock.
In all honesty, art is something to be preserved for the ages. Florida, on the other hand and regardless of what actions we take, is going to be under water in the next few decades.
Artistic suppression is part of the fascist playbook. The AI "perk" is just icing on the horrible cake.
