It's easy for me to say, bc I'm not the one getting death threats. But if media are afraid to do their job now, they might as well go into another line of work. If Trump wins, their choices will be to praise Dear Leader daily or the gulag.
Fact checking does not work. The lies about Springfield have been fact checked for weeks. Trump & Vance still tell those lies. So, why engage in this charade of fact checking, as if pointing out facts makes a difference? The media ought to do what Harris does: bait Trump into sounding crazy.
Yup. I was looking forward to seeing this "debate" and now am not sure it will be worth it. I will say that a halfway clever moderator could easily frame questions such that the fact check is actually in the question such as: "Despite not being true you continue to ... why?"
At least they're admitting what we've all seen from the media since Trump: they don't care about objective facts anymore, only about performing neutrality.
Vance tells the media, on CNN I believe, that he will intentionally lie in order to get his preferred narratives into the news. And now CBS says they won’t fact check the debate?! They need to grow a spine in that board room. They will help Project 2025 become our reality.
CBS has always been in the tank for Trump and this format can only be good for a prolific liar like Vance.
