Old-school 1st and 2nd ed. D&D was crazy dangerous- it was not unheard of to have an identical twin with the same stats show up when a character died. Joined the party after the funeral 😂

Early #DnD also had a lot more players randomly generating their characters, which allowed them to be made quickly and didn't put a lot of pressure on the player to come up with a new concept.
