The ongoing broad right wing goal has been, for at least the last 40 years, the privatization of public services. First they strangle their budgets in order to “break” them, then when they are broken they move to pull that public money into private corporate hands.
Okay, I wrote down my conspiracy theory about book bans. “The point is that fascists don’t just want to remove copies of The Bluest Eye from our public libraries; they want to remove public libraries from our democracy.”
