I found myself thinking that the non-MAGA Republicans need a new party. Then I realized that party is the Democratic party. As Dems become MAGA-lite, driven by fear of Trump winning, what we are missing is a progressive liberal party. "Fear is the mind-killer." It turns you into what you fear.
Democrats have been chasing the median (i.e. centrist) position as a strategy to win the most votes, regardless of what that position ends up being, my entire life. It's embarrassing to have a party that was more liberal 80 years ago compared to today, all for a few polling points they never get.
