I see a lot of people complain about the modbot applying a label to their NSFW photos and I just don't understand it. I'm way more likely to mute/block people who get onto my TL when it's a bad time for those than if I just see a [show more] button.

This, definitely! I wish they'd implement the same kind of reminder for this as they have for alt-text, tbh 😭 I am forgetful and miss it at times bc it is so out of the way/small and not present on the image itself. However I think others have said - sometimes the auto-mod overrides your self tags,
I pretty much had to switch to exclusively using my following feed instead of 'for you' because there was way too much unflagged kink.
This keeps needing to be said because it keeps being an issue. People cannot use tools on this site to curate their experience if UPLOADERS do not post appropriately. Every time I see someone's mislabled pics I check their page and NONE of their posts are self labeled. :/
Quite a few artists do add the NSFW tag on these posts which I added that to my black list. But sometimes, some do tag slightly differently without including the tag the others use (for example: garyNSFWart or something similar). Even worse is not including any sorts of NSFW tags or even words.
I didn't even know this was a thing until a few months ago cuz I kept getting angry at how wrong the auto-labels were and a friend was like "do you label them yourself first?" And I was ???? Lmao
