I’ve always gotten the feeling that there was something nefarious about the 2016 election, as well. If he was dirty while losing in 2020, it only stands to reason he did something to win in ‘16.

Maybe. But with Obama sitting in the White House and controlling all the levers of power, and Loretta Lynch as Attorney General, it would have been a whole lot more difficult to pull off. The elections fuckery in red states perhaps. But not the 1/6 business.

Feels like it wouldn’t have been different given that he wouldn’t have the pulpit of being an incumbent. A lot of the Republican establishment wanted him to lose until they realized he wasn’t going to. Any whiff of a loss and they would have thrown him overboard. And they all buckled.
