Sunset ducks, Scoville Reservoir, Wolcott, Connecticut. August 12, 2021, 8:01 PM. #sunset#hiking

We are looking over leafy green shrubs along the shore of a large lake. There are around 30 ducks in the lake, swimming, diving for food, one standing on the tiny tip of a mostly submerged rock. The far shore is mostly wooded except for a small cluster of houses. The post sunset sky has turned vivid soft pink and violet. This is mirrored on the lake surface below, rippled gently by soft breezes and the wakes of swimming waterfowl.
