Part of what spurred this response is seeing takes like "Furry isn't queer", which I can only square if you also believe "LGBT EXACTLY EQUALS Queer". Ignoring how furry communities organize around and celebrate non-normative identities that are shamed by society.

Well there’s not only that, but also the fact that we are talking about the furry subculture, and the number one thing the subculture is known for is radical queer acceptance. It’s the thing even the detractors focus on. The subculture is queer even if everyone in it is not.

Its not even arguable. Just straight up 80% of the fandom is lgbtq. Add in other forms of non normative identity and you're pushing even more. Its absolutely a queer subculture more than most subcultures.
