Something about the endless stream of remasters, reimaginings, reboots and etc of games, shows, movies, stories that are decades or older feels very "Look, thanks to modern technology, now you can see 'the rest' of van Gogh's Starry Night!" to me.

These things were made in the context of the lives, inspirations and limitations of their writers, creators and teams that originally wrote, shot, programmed etc them, and slapping a fresh coat of paint on and going "look its modern" or "look there's more of it" cheapens the fuck out of the original
