If you were to choose one novel to teach undergrads prose analysis & close reading, which work of American lit would be your choice?
As I Lay Dying with its multiple narrative voices and the subject matters that haunt us all from birth.
Toni Morrison's Beloved. Great for narrative situation as well
Probably The Death of Jane Lawrence by Caitlin Starling. There's a lot about language and its relation to reality in that book that makes for some satisfying close reading
