I was just commenting about this elsewhere, but this feels like a deliberate shift in calculus on the part of Hamas. They've crossed a line that they weren't willing to cross until now; before this, they've seemingly just abandoned the hostages shortly before the IDF closes in on them.

I'll be honest I don't think Trump's word mattered much here. This is very much Bibi's choice.
