Journalists are people, too. Much of the reasoning in the paper goes for my profession as well where activism is as bad an accusation. It is a question of professionalism to not let you warp your research and reporting if the piece concerns something you want to see solved like the #climatecrisis.

nonsense if you want to be a climate activist, go research something else

Imagine separating expertise and actively treating problems in medicine and one immediately realizes, that this is a bad idea. Do you want an expert standing by, while a clueless guy grabs the scalpel?
