Yeah. I’m sure a philosopher of play does a lot of self-reflection, but I’m not sure how common it is. I think I usually enjoy the striving and (sometimes) the beauty of the game without reflection on the qualities of own play, The rock climbing examples helped me see it a bit more broadly, though.

My group calls the post-game breakdown the Recriminations Phase and we love it, but my wife hates to rehash. As a designer, if after a playtest players talk about why they played as they did it's a really good sign.
