I'm re-watching TNG, I'm halfway through Season 1 and I'm like, where the fuck is the "Star Fleet post-incident review process" Starfleet is so chill as if captains are so often manipulated by Ferengi tech, "just add it to this months' Ferengi stats, you're still under the limit before we worry"
The "trap the captain in a holodeck facsimile of the ship to make him give up his password to a userspace program that can then escalate to admin and seize the ship" exploit obviously didn't get patched, because a holographic character pulls it off again in Star Trek: Prodigy, 20 years later.
"computer absorbed a life form in a nebula?" yeah we get those about once a day, don't worry about it "inter-dimensional civilzation paralyses your ship in orbit of a planet of simpletons?" yeah, add it to the list of planets they hover around
Why are starship officers actually surprised when something is being caused by an energy being? Shouldn't that be their first go-to explanation when something weird is happening? I mean, Starfleet Academy should have a full 101 class on "Energy beings, characteristics and handling procedures?"
