I think Patreon has a lot of issues, but I think as a space for community I like it a lot more than say ko-fi. Ko-fi is nice, but I never really delved into the community stuff there.
I've been on patreon since 2019 so for me it was just nice to have other people who couldn't afford to support anymore et cetra--be able to keep up. Some posts I keep purely for paid members, but it is a nice option. Especially if I want to advertise something there.

Yeah! I have found Patreon, for all of its faults, is a great place to be able to keep in contact with community, especially now that you can have non-paid patrons follow your work. Having somewhere people can keep up with you easily is really important for community building.
Oh that sucks to hear that past commissioners didn't follow over, but I feel like too with the instability of socmed recently it makes sense how unstable everything is/people getting lost and unable to find or keep up with artists.

:3 That's good to hear! Luckily I haven't had to deal with much fraud or scams over the years because of the forms, but I do know that is really rampant for people taking comms directly in e-mails and DMs. I'm glad it is nice to use interface-wise, especially.

For clarity--I'm looking for information from the artist's side, because I'm curious as to how it works/how comfortable it feels to run things through there. My primary way of doing commissions for years now has been through forms and invoicing--so I was wondering how moving to that feels.
