Dunno if newer ones have the same problem, but mine was v. finicky & would run crappy if I didn't let the fuel pump & ECU fully cycle before firing it up. Also, the fuel filter & pressure regulator are (were?) a single integrated unit, and hella expensive to replace. If bad gas is a concern, (1/2)

you can splice in a fuel filter under the seat just after the pump, it tucks in nicely. IIRC I used one from a Chevette or something small like that. (2/2)
