You know there are plenty of Republicans who just want to go back to being quietly fascist too who should be pushing for that outcome behind the scenes

absolutely. but they are terrified of Trump. All the worst aspects of their current candidates are the result of fear of trump as well. thats why they need the courts to do it. that way they can scream about how unfair it all is and secretly be ecstatic that they can be a viable party again.

I think that notion has passed the Rubicon. Now way to put that cat back in the bag.
