a lot of people still cling to the idea that AI can "get the job started" but i can tell you that in my experience if a part of a creative job was done incorrectly or the foundations of almost any artistic process contains cut corners, its usually inevitable and cheaper to start from scratch
Every time tech companies release a demo that absolutely blows everyone's mind and launches a million think-pieces about how industries will change, there's always a short piece that comes out weeks or months later that reveals the demo was basically made up. Case in point:
A viral two-minute short titled "Air Head," created in part by using OpenAI's video-generating Sora tool, required a good bit human editing.
Look, whenever I'm asked to do busywork, I absolutely think it is okay to do it with AI. Nothing that would be reaching a client or anything like that, just shit that gets sent to HR/management so they can look at it for 5 min, might as well take only 5 min doing it...
This isn't even a new problem. All these corporations are doing (part of the advertizing playbook) is making people believe this product is needed, when it in fact was never needed, ever.
Folks should learn that tech creeps aim for investment wealth based mostly on unfinished products. Also, they dream about not working with anybody even if it costs more and took more time. They see everyone else as in the way of their brilliance. They don’t realize how normal ideation is.
There was that reddit post making the rounds a week or two ago where an animation director had to break it to the "prompt artists" that he'd been assigned that they need to be able to do things like separate background layers and make small adjustments to existing images.
I'm just a lowly indie comics writer, but I've worked on a few animated movies and TV shows. Since the early hype I've been unable to conceive how genAI could be of any "help" in my creative process, and the more I read about its throw-spaghetti-at-the-wall nature the less I believe in it. 🤷♂️
Imma be straight, (in a manner of speaking) my friend and I both are life long artists who've suffered crippling disabilities which have severely limited our capacity to create through traditional means. AI as a tool helps both of us overcome our imposed limitations, at least to an extent.

The START of a job is the foundation of everything that follows! That’s the part you really want to think through, because if something is fundamentally off at the beginning, it screws up everything else. The genAI process is “throw spaghetti at wall, pick out good bits,” which is super inefficient
