I think the sad reality is that you'll find that sort of thing seeping into every site on the internet. Find the places you can work with best and use them to your own advantage. I personally prefer BlueSky because of how it's block feature works compared to Twitter. But you do you.
I saw somewhere someone said it does have an effect on your Discover tab. So I think if you like posts it'll make the Discover tab fill up with more stuff similar to what you like. Combined with hashtags, that sounds pretty awesome if true.
