5 games into the season is about right for sharing the weekly #Hawkeyes FBS Stats Rankings. This one is through this past weekend's games. 2 thoughts: the Offensive stats are not great but markedly better than the last 3 years; the Defensive stats are not quite as good as usual.

The #Hawkeyes 2-Deeps for Washington this Saturday. Pretty familiar. BTW you won't ever see Kaleb Brown or Leshon Williams on the DC again (in case you've missed today's news about both leaving the UI program).

FINAL: FADE TO BLACK... Ohio State 35 - Iowa 7 At least the #Hawkeyes didn't get shut out. RIght? Not many positives in this one. Good news is the rest of the schedule - so some hope. UI is just not in OSU's "league". FWIS don't expect any QB change next week either despite, you know. Final Stats...

Kind of amazing what can happen when you have a really mobile QB - how that impacts the opposing D - how that opens up passing plays. Who could imagine... Not going to change the outcome though but at least it won't put to sleep for the remaining 8 minutes or so. #Hawkeyes

McNamara's day has gone from mediocre to bad to very bad to horrible. And so have the #Hawkeyes chances. Defense + Special Teams ain't so hot either. Maybe a QB with at least a modicum of escapability might do better against this OSU D. KF apparently won't allow that though.

Welp. It was (sort of) fun while it lasted. McNamara's fumble and the nearly immediate OSU TD pretty much obliterates the #Hawkeyes chances (such as they were given the offense's performance).

2Q End Ohio State 7 - Iowa 0 Somehow the #Hawkeyes only trail by 7. The 2 OSU turnovers were huge for UI (Higgins & Castro). UI has no penalties nor any TOs - but has only 18 rush YDs. Halftime Stats from The Shoe...

This was a "1st guess" for me (not 2nd guessing): trading OSU TDs for #Hawkeyes FGs (attempts) is NOT a winning formula in this game (well, OK, that's obvious). Just isn't. Is it possible for KF to think out of the box here (that is, be a little more aggressive)?
