I’ve been complaining about this to friends all summer. There’s no scene-setting, no description, no B plot, no engaging secondary characters, etc. I love regency romance & older historicals used to describe the clothes, the decor, the house. Now I don’t even know what color the heroine’s dress is!

I’ve been burned enough times now that I don’t buy a book unless it’s an established author I like or I’ve read it before. ‘Trending on booktok’ is a strong sign I will be disappointed.
