Yes if you're in a hurry. The dedicated will feed for longer though one has to warn any Christmas drivers not to eat it until they get home!
My wife does this. Made in October half term, fed with brandy or rum depending on what's in the cupboard every couple of weeks. Delicious!

My great-gran's Xmas pears were alcohol bathed for two weeks, and that seemed pretty excessive until I inherited the Rx and made them. Trying to imagine it for two months, however, for the cake is a bit of a challenge.
