Man, the number of times someone's found a partially-disarticulated bear skeleton in the woods and called the cops thinking it was a human's remains is crazy. Once the skull and the little bones of the wrists and toes are gone, it looks spookily human.

Bear paws, minus the claws, look remarkably human. And since poachers often take just the pelt, claws, and other high value parts, the paws are left behind to freak people the hevk out.
