The Thing (1982)

Film poster for The Thing. A silhouetted figure standing in a snowy/icy landscape has radiating beams of light instead of a face. The tagline on the poster reads "The ultimate in alien terror."

"The less money we spend on making this, the more profit we can get." Sounds cynical, I know, but; releasing TV shows on disc is an awfully expensive undertaking for little reward, so I can understand it. (Also suspect people who will buy [TV show on disc] will do so whatever it looks like.)

The Platform 2 (2024)

Poster for The Platform 2 with text in Spanish. The view is looking up from an open shaft as a seemingly endless layer of floors stretch above. From the nearest floor a young woman and a bulky man are looking down on you.

The Horrible Dr. Hichcock (1962)

Film poster for The Horrible Dr. Hichcock. A woman sits in a chair gazing fixedly ahead; in the background a doctor is preparing an injection; in front of the woman there is a coffin with the lid ajar and a hand hanging (or reaching?) out.

And yet she is, she says, not "part of the establishment" 🤦‍♂️ I don't know what perception filter she's using to interface with the world, but clearly it's a bloody strong one.

Makes me cross because pivoting to video is just making content inaccessible to the deaf. Seems even more stupid and offensive when it comes to promoting books, a text-based and accessible medium!

I think you're getting your Gardens mixed up there.

The thing I remember most about that gap is the vast gulf between the expectation given by a button marked "Doubt" and the actual results of pressing it.
