Time to get the trepanning equipment
I came back to the UK yesterday and itās fully autumn. Guess itās time for big jumpers and sitting inside of cafes to write instead of outside.
If the history of the game echoes how history works in the real world, then itās not just āa bunch of facts people either know or donātā itās a written, created, constantly shifting thing- so thinking about that and clarifying in a document can be helpful! (Also makes it more interesting imo)
That might not be applicable or helpful for a a lot of projects, so another thing I really like when itās clarified is establishing systems and power dynamics of information not just the info itself. What do people know? How do they? Why do they? In comparison, what does the player know? Etc
Depends entirely on the project! Thereās no one size fits all If itās a more classic āworldā then itās helpful that the mundane is noted, not just the exceptional. Population, food sources, societal structures, methods of storytelling etc. Not just āhereās a list of Big Names & Big Eventsā
Let historians at your lore docs, cowards
I love academia and academic publishing. I think itās great to spend four years of my life writing a thesis no one will read, with the ultimate goal of turning it into a book that I will lose money on and barely anyone will read because itās prohibitively expensive
Iām a very dull person to be obsessed with, but Iāll accept it
Back from holiday to a very grey UK, have to work again, but now have the leftover mosquito bites from the trip. The absolute worst combo
Yes this is now going to be my new author/speaker photo. Also if I go mysteriously missing this is the picture I want on the news
