I love this quote from VE Schwab’s introduction: “You see, a book like this doesn’t ask you to believe in fantasy. No, instead, it simply plants a seed of doubt about the limits of what’s real. And a seed like that, in the right fertile soil, will sprout on its own, and grow.” 🧚
Jonathan Strange and Mr Norell is one of my all time favourite books—I’ve both read and listened to it several times—and it’s one of the books that inspires me to write stories where the real and fantastical elements are so intertwined it can be hard to tell which is which. 🧚
I know how you feel. I used to be too ambitious in my bullet journal and set up so many spreads that I couldn‘t keep up with. Now I focus on simple writing trackers like these, a few monthly overviews and trackers and leave out all the rest. I don‘t want my BuJo to be another stress factor!
We ❤️ the everyday adventures Mouse & Mole enjoy. A Fresh Start & The Secret of Happiness include 3 beautifully illustrated stories perfect for bridging the gap between picture books & chapter books. storysnug.com/2024/09/mous...#JoyceDunbar@mrjamesmayhew.bsky.social#StorySnug#UKKidLit#KidLitUk

Thanks! I‘m sending sympathy and healing wishes back.
Thank you so much, Oliver! My recovery was going really well until three weeks ago, when I overestimated what I could do… Now I’m back on pain meds and doing the initial physio exercises from four months ago. Send me patience please…
The last four months, while trying to recover from a herniated disc, I’ve been lying on the couch, immersed in adventures in Faerie. Book 2 about my fearsome faeries is completely done, proofread, and ready for publication in 2025. And book 3 exists! 💚🧚⛰️💙 #IntoTheFaerieHill
Happy Christmas, Mayken! Pictionary and Trivial pursuit are other board games we’ve had in several languages. 😊
