Again, thats CAFE standards. A truck with the footprint of a RAV4 would need to get a certain MPG. My 2011 Ford Ranger is a tiny little truck by todays standards and it can't even dream of touching 20MPG.

Oh good, the big truck discourse has moved to bluesky. Im here to remind everyone that big trucks have always existed. The problem is that CAFE regulations have eliminated all V8 body-on-frame cars, leaving a gap in the market that only trucks can fill.
Im my parents house having an artificial tree is almost a point of pride. My Dad will openly say to guests "Yeah that tree is pretty nice huh? Paid $40 for that on Boxing Day 2012 and shes still kickin." But we're also frugal.
