They didn't ignore what was happening with Letby. The managers told the doctors to provide evidence or stop making accusations. The doctors just never found any evidence against her.

Obviously, but I do have the benefit of hindsight and tons of experts scratching their heads at what the prosecution put forward. If her defense team could go back in time and construct a new defense based on what is known today, I'm sure they would be able to construct a better defense, too.

Obviously. The problem isn't what went to trial, it is what went to the police and Evans.

The fact that Evans himself (and the Thirlwall inquiry) is apparently still turning up suspicious cases all this time later tells me that some notes were not looked at prior to the trial. That raises the question of what are these notes and what makes them different from the pretrial case notes?

I don't believe they did, no.

I would expect so, too. And there were instances where babies desaturated and then recovered when Letby wasn't around, but they were not viewed as suspicious. I'd want confirmation that Letby's presence wasn't a factor for the hospital choosing these files being given to the police.

Dewi Evans said he was given 32 medical case files. Now he says he is looking through more than 80 that he's been given, and he's found 25 more suspicious cases since the trial ended, so who knows? archive.is/KLJzT

That is the problem with this investigation. It began with a suspect, then went to the police to determine if a crime occurred, and then experts began crafting theories to fit the suspect and crime. No impartial investigation, just confirmation bias from start to finish.

He claims he looked through 32 case notes. That's obviously not every baby that collapsed or deteriorated in the span of 13 months. Until it is understood why and how those 32 cases were picked for investigation, it can't be ruled out that they were picked because they could be linked to Letby.
