Gmail has apparently decided that newsletters migrating from Substack to other services (like Buttondown) is suspicious (similar metadata, new sender), and is now routing a bunch of them to my spam folder. YMMV, but it may be worth checking if you're not seeing newsletters you usually get.

Missed y'all while @shawndearn.bsky.social and I were planning/planting a bunch of new gardens! Here's a small taste 🌱 tbh, new plantings are always a bit anticlimactic - many of the bushes pictured will reach 10-20 meters tall within a few years. Fall planting is all about structure & ground cover.

How many organisms can one milkweed plant play host to!? 🌱

New comic from me is a love letter to lazy, hazy summer days, printed large scale & displayed at 380 Adelaide St West in Toronto thanks to Italic Press. As a lover of public art, comics, & cats this was a dream project. Will be up for several weeks. #queerart

Sleep, Creep, Then Leap: typically, perennials have a three-year growth process. Y1: Initial establishment with a focus on root development, Y2: gradual expansion with increased foliage and blooms, Y3: a vibrant flourish in the third year! Embrace the slow rewarding beauty of perennials. 🌱

Three Echinacea flowers radiating an light purple hue, their petals arrayed around prominent orange cones at their centers. Bathed in a warm sunlight, they stand out against a soft-focus background of greenery, offering a captivating splash of purple in the landscape.
