It sucks mightily that Bamco is canceling projects and cutting their workforce, but i find it humorous that the Japanese way to try and get people to quit is more or less the American working dream

The text from an article

According to Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, the company is “taking a traditionally Japanese approach to reducing staff and sending workers to rooms where they are given nothing to do, putting pressure on them to leave voluntarily.”

From what I've seen, this does mean no phone, no computer, etc., and then they get reprimanded for not doing anything. That is just what I read from others' tweets do idk the validity. But I might go a little insane doing absolutely nothing for 8 hours a day, personally...

I've been in low-responsibility work situations before that have caused me a lot of stress, but if I KNEW that it was happening deliberately and no one would care how I spent my days I'd be PUMPED

True story: I once had to explain to a Japanese manager that putting an employee in the window seat with no responsibility was NOT an effective punishment for an American worker.

Back when I was working at a call center, they offered voluntary go home when call volume was low. My supervisor came over to offer me the option and i just said nah you can keep paying me to sit here and do nothing. I stand by that mindset to this day and always try to live up to it

Man I always wanted to be put in this situation. If they tried that shit on me I'd stall them with paid hours to do nothing for MONTHS. You DEFINITELY are firing me

I would love to be put in that situation, as opposed to our American method of increasing the workload until you suffocate.
