I wonder how that affects the emergence of hybrids from graft junctions studied by Ralph Bock

Yeah, because of the mixing of genotypes by nuclear fusion. Should have some genotype dependence. (I talked to @hannahraethomas.bsky.social, first author of the present study, yesterday and learned that for tomato/pepper, graft incompatibility seems to be a quantitative trait.)
