I can see that side. However, doesn’t that make them stupider than someone who figured those things out without joining the military? If you have to experience things firsthand to gain the most obvious takeaways, you’re gonna be terrible at legislating, imo.

Well, not necessarily. There's a lot of just flat out procedural and like, "administrative" decisions that we don't really see or understand, but they impact how the military functions in a huge way. That's something a former vet is uniquely able to speak to.
