I think a lot of these indie publishing hottakes is from authors who feel intimidated by the flood of new authors. Instead of sharpening and honing their crafts they are going to do everything to discourage new authors.

I am here because I had veteran authors take me under their wing, who uplifted me, and encouraged me. And I always try to pay that kindness forward. They are way too many authors in this community who see other authors as competition and that saddens me.
